Abstract:

Temple University Hospital, located in Philadelphia, is a 740-bed teaching hospital employing 4,500 staff members. This article describes how, during one of the largest snowfalls of the 2009/2010 season, TUH activated its Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and worked with staff to ensure that all shifts were covered throughout the blizzard by transporting 171 staff members to the hospital and housing up to 581 staff members at the hospital within a 24-hour period.
