Abstract:
The avian flu that is the current pandemic threat has killed 60% of the humans it has attacked. Because of the high risk of mortality, the World Health Organization is encouraging the creation of pandemic preparedness plans. This article discusses the pandemic flu preparedness plan of the hospitals of the Health First system in Brevard County, Florida, including how they used their knowledge of previous emergency situations to create an effective flu plan, the importance of community partners and proper staffing, and how to properly test and revise a preparedness plan.Document Type: Research article
