Abstract:

In 2006, Kayenta Health Services coordinated and executed a mass vaccination drill in preparation for a possible pandemic, a drill which included over 5,000 participants. The goal of this drill was to test how quickly and efficiently the service units could vaccinate an entire community, should an influenza pandemic occur. This article discusses how Kayenta organized and conducted the drill, problems that needed to be assessed along the way, as well as lessons learned from the experience.
