Abstract:

In January 2008, The Joint Commission will add a Life Safety Code® (LSC) Specialist to the survey team for all hospital and critical access hospital surveys. This decision follows two successful years of including the LSC Specialist in surveys for hospitals with 200 or more beds. This article discusses how the inclusion of an LSC Specialist will change the survey process, how the assessment will work, and tips on how to prepare for the change.
