Acta Zoologica Cracoviensia is an international journal for rapid publication. The journal includes original contributions on systematics, phylogeny, biogeography, ecology and paleontology of terrestrial and fresh-water animals worldwide. Descriptions of new taxa are welcome, including single species. All papers are subject to peer reviews. There are no publication charges for authors. Since 2018 Acta Zoologica Cracoviensia is an electronic-only Open Access journal distributed under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY) which permits free access and unrestricted use provided the original author(s) and the source are properly cited.

In the years between 2005 and 2011 the journal was published in two separate series: Acta Zoologica Cracoviensia – Series A: Vertebrata and Acta Zoologica Cracoviensia - Series B: Invertebrata
