Abstract:
When measuring international tourism, in addition to tracking tourism flows there is also a clear interest in quantifying the economic value. The first indicators in this respect (although with limitations) are the international tourism receipts earned by destinations in the case of inbound tourism and the international tourism expenditure by residents of generating markets in the case of outbound tourism. Most countries report both indicators on a regular basis within the framework of the balance of payments. This issue's 'Databank' analyses international tourism receipts, international tourism expenditure and the resulting international tourism balance for the various destination and origin regions, subregions and countries of the world. Keywords: INBOUND TOURISM; OUTBOUND TOURISM; INTERNATIONAL TOURISM RECEIPTS; INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXPENDITURE; INTERNATIONAL TOURISM BALANCE; WTO-OMT
