Optical Cooper pair breaking spectroscopy of YBa2Cu2.8Zn0.2O7- thin films

In this paper, the photon-energy dependence of the optical Cooper pair breaking rate (CPBR) was studied for YBa2Cu2.8Zn0.2O7- (YBCZO) thin films, and was compared to that in YBCO. In YBCZO the CPBR also shows strong photon-energy dependence, similar to that in YBCO, but with a change in the position and shape of the absorption feature. The results were discussed in terms of the resonance of Cooper pair breaking and the involvement of the insulating stripes. This study favours a physical scenario based on electronic phase separation in high-Tc superconductivity.
