Magic angular momenta of a quantum dot under a strong magnetic field: the effect of a Coulomb impurity

Abstract:The ground-state energies of several interacting electrons ( [iopmath latex="$N\le 12$"] N12 [/iopmath] ) confined in a parabolic quantum dot with an impurity ion at the centre are obtained by numerical diagonalizations. Series of magic values of angular momentum are determined. The rules for identifying the magic numbers are established.
