Abstract:

We propose a generally covariant version of the Schr?dinger equation suitable for general relativity by quantizing the geodesic deviation equation. The resulting wave equation depends on the (geodesic) trajectory of the observer. It is first order in `time' and second order in the `spatial' derivatives. In the following we apply our prescription to quantum tunnelling from beyond the event horizon of a spherical symmetric (Schwarzschild) black hole.
