Abstract:This intervention draws on poststructuralist Marxist and post-autonomist theory to analyze the recent spate of mobile phone incidents in London's West End theatres, arguing that the context for this newly emerged faux pas must be understood to be the economic restructuring of West End theatre culture and a resultant essential incompatibility between theatre, as sold, and theatre subject to neo-liberal models of outsourcing.
