Multipath digital storytelling – a study on interaction design of the scientific invention story
Abstract:The advanced development of digital technology enables the public to absorb and understand scientific and technological achievements and new knowledge via various channels. Science and technology inventors constantly overcome difficulties and repeatedly engage in trial and error to apply their R&D achievements to everyday life. In addition to the convenience brought by science and technology, the understanding of the invention process can also help improve the public's understanding, as well as scientific and technological literacy. Many studies have indicated that the use of interactive games in learning can strengthen users' learning motivation and interest. This study aims to design and develop the content of multipath digital storytelling of scientific and technological invention stories. The storytelling content included the background of science and technology inventors, the process of scientific and technological R&D and exploration, scientific and technological trends, and social influence. This study combined the multipath digital storytelling model with the formation process of scientific knowledge, inspiration for scientific invention, and methods of scientific study to investigate other possibilities during the invention process. It used the brainstorming technique to conceive possible turning points of story development, develop the interactive interface model of multipath storytelling, and investigate the cognitive perception of interface operation and the multipath storytelling model, in order to increase users' interest in exploring scientific invention stories.
