Multi‐parameter surface roughness analysis in turning of polyamide composite using Polycrystalline Diamond tool

Abstract:This paper is aimed at studying the influence of the glass fibre reinforcement on the surface roughness under the cutting parameters prefixed. Experimental studies were carried out for composites PA 6 and PA 66‐GF30 using Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) tool. Surface roughness is represented by different profile amplitude parameters and proposed ratios. With appropriate cutting parameters, it is possible to obtain machined surfaces with <0.8 um of Ra. Consequently, it is possible to achieve surface qualities (dimensional precision) in composite workpiece of mechanic precision, IT 5 and 6.
