Perceived importance and effectiveness of KM performance outcomes: perspective of institutions of higher learning

Abstract:This article examines the perceived importance and effectiveness of 19 Knowledge Management (KM) performance outcomes based on survey data collected from 185 academics working in a public university in Malaysia. The factor analysis results reveal an important confirmation to the theoretical findings in the literature with respect to the KM performance outcomes. The paired t‐test results show a significant difference between all the KM performance outcomes perceived as important and their effectiveness. The result supports findings from the industry setting and suggestions are provided on how Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) in general can implement KM effectively from the outcomes perspective.
