Abstract:
The existing relation between different kinds of innovation and firm size is a topic of interest. Innovation in a general sense, as authentic "innovative management", is a field where small to medium companies (SMEs) can explore strategies in order to compete for the same opportunities. Although dimension is not outstanding in the case of the Navarra Foral Community, but the sector is, the research and development, training and management capacity are basically what decide its competitive position and therefore its survival capacity in the long term. The importance of technological changes is one of the mains items that characterise the actual situation. Technological innovations, linked to telecommunications, computers and robotics, have modified productive processes, and decisions of localisation, and they have modified the share between economic activities. It is not new to say that technological innovation is one of the indicators that gives us important information about the situation in any region and the trail of the adoption of the innovation is one of the keys to its future. In this context, the role of the companies is very important, because they are the agents entrusted to apply the innovation to productive processes. In this work, we will present a study about the adoption of innovation technology in the Spanish region of Navarra. Technologic innovations are present in this Navarra Foral Community, but poorly supported (R&D centres, engineering) resulting in an insufficient level of technological activity.
