Strategic productivity management: a business structure‐based system

Abstract:Corporate planning systems with high visibility and fast response have long been desired by management. Traditional approaches, such as simulation languages and spreadsheets, do not offer effective solutions with quick "what if" calculations for large‐scale profit planning systems. Based on complex management relationships, Business Structure‐Based Systems can be harnessed using structured matrices to link activities to cost drivers in the value chain. With the interactive package, business scenarios are projected on super sets of tables allowing models to become visible. Structured Matrix Technology can offer a solution, readily transcribing the cost‐process relation into a modelling system. The affinity of productivity and concurrent management information systems is expounded. Business Structure‐Based Systems make new process designs effective and provide powerful and relevant decision‐making tools in strategic productivity management.
