Abstract:

The identity of Angraecum gracile Thouars and its nomenclatural history are clarified. Although most recently assigned to Chamaeangis, the fragmentary type is best placed in Angraecum, as indicated by the drawing and the table accompanying Thouars's description. To date this Mauritian endemic is known only from the type; three specimens previously associated with it by Finet from the Comoro Islands and La Réunion belong instead to Angraecopsis trifurca (Rchb. f.) Schltr.
