Hybrid Truss and Full Web System for New Sardinia Viaducts
Abstract:The idea of combining full web and truss elements in the composition of deck systems for composite bridges has been investigated in research and applications in recent years. The basic issue is the conception of designs that prove to be competitive in global cost and quality with other standard realisations, combining elegance with efficiency to achieve remarkable aesthetic aspects. This paper briefly describes these concepts and perspectives, and presents some projects, which have been built accordingly.
