Abstract:
The recently completed extension to London Underground's Jubilee Line is the largest addition to the Underground in over 25 years. The 16-km extension includes 12 km of underground railway with four new river crossings. The Jubilee Line Extension provides transport links south of the Thames and to the major new commercial developments at London's Docklands. The project has set new standards in station design and provided the city with a transport infrastructure fit for the new millennium. This major undertaking was successfully carried out in London's highly congested urban environment. Keywords: Jubilee Line Extension (London, UK); Underground railways; Station design; Cut-and-cover techniques; Tunnel linings; Resilient base-plated tracks; Floating slab tracks
