Abstract:

Ischemic optic neuropathy developed 3 to 6 months after the start of conventional-dose interferon therapy for malignancies in a 53 yearold woman with adenocarcinoma and a 67-year-old man with penile cancer. One case concurrently manifested peripheral neuropathy with histologic evidence of local vasculitis. After follow-up (5 years and 16 months), visual acuity, visual fields, and visual-evoked potentials had improved considerably but were still abnormal.
