Abstract:

An extensive subhyaloid hemorrhage covered the posterior pole of 1 eye in a 30-year-old pregnant woman after an incident of severe vomiting. Argon laser posterior hyaloidotomy was performed. Visual acuity improved from counting fingers to 6/6 on the fourth day and remained unchanged after 1 year, without visible retinal damage. Although the indications are rare, argon laser therapy should be considered for subhyaloid hemorrhage when a rapid restoration of visual acuity is desired.
