Abstract:

We performed ophthalmologic evaluation in 93 patients with inflammatory bowel disease (78 with ulcerative colitis and 15 with Crohn’s disease). Ocular complications developed in 12 patients (age, 16 to 53 years): 10 with ulcerative colitis and 2 with Crohn’s disease. Ocular complications included episcleritis (n = 2), subepithelial infiltrates (n = 2), uveitis (n = 2), perivascular sheathing (n = 3), retinal vasculitis (n = 1), and multifocal infiltrates (n = 5).
