Abstract:

This article presents a study of 30 eyes in 15 patients with familial exudative vitreoretinopathy. All the patients were followed for 1 to 4 years, and 18 eyes received some form of treatment during this period of time, including retinal detachment surgery with pars plana vitrectomy, cryoretinopexy, and laser therapy. This study shows that the prognosis for survival of these eyes, despite careful observation and treatment, remains guarded.
