Abstract:

The enormous increase in cross-border disputes in recent years has led to greater scrutiny of national law rules for the exercise of jurisdiction and enforcement of foreign judgments. The 2005 Hague Choice of Court Convention represents one of the first attempts to harmonise such rules on a global basis and this article assesses the achievement of the Convention both from the point of view of Australian law and its reception internationally.
