Abstract:Romania is the only country in the Balkans whose language is of Latin origin. It gained its unity and independence during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. After the Second World War, Romania went through a difficult period, struggling to avoid Communism and to preserve democracy. However, in less than five years, the Communist regime installed itself for a half a century, making Romania part of the Communist world.
