Abstract:

Mexico has a very long tradition of social responsibility, which can be tracked back to the indigenous cultures of the region before America was ‘discovered’. For example, the Raramori, who still live in the mountains of Northern Mexico in the state of Chihuahua, use the expression korima, which means ‘to share’. Importantly, korima is not philanthropic in the sense of sharing surplus wealth, but is the practice of sharing resources in times of stress.
