Abstract:Historically, charitable activities in Azerbaijan were rooted in Islamic religious beliefs that inspired believers to provide assistance to vulnerable groups. The responsibility of Muslims towards other human beings is given a very strong emphasis in Islam. Moreover, mutual help between members of a Muslim community is strongly emphasised. The Qur'an states that God loves those who are charitable and promises great reward and forgiveness for those who give regularly to others in need.
