Background and framework of the report
Abstract:As stated, the objective of this research was to gain a better understanding of the management systems used by MNEs in the implementation of CSR and corporate codes of conduct across three sectors: footwear, apparel and retail. Before delving into our substantive findings regarding management systems, it would be useful to consider the nature of operations in the context of the sectors studied. In the following chapters we address each sector separately and offer a more detailed introduction regarding the historical development of the sector, along with the context for emerging commitments related to labour, social and ethical behaviour in that sector.
