Four types of yellow sticky traps (two commercially available and two handmade) were compared for their effectivenessin capturing Colladonus montanus (Van Duzee) and Fieberiella jlorii (Stal). The commercially available traps captured as many or more leafhoppers on a common unit of sticky surface area as the handmade traps, and the commercial traps were much easier to handle in the field. Yellow sticky traps placed at the top of the cherry tree canopy (:::::4.9m) captured significantly more C. montanus in the spring and fall and F. jlorii in the fall compared with traps placed at 1.8 m. Yellow sticky traps baited with adult female F. jlorii captured significantly more males than did traps baited with males or no leafhoppers.
