A total of 5,194 soybean accessions was screened for resistance to Eriella zinckenella (Treitschkel in mass screening trials over 2 years. Since no immune accessions were found in the preliminary screening, directional screenings a second and third time resulted in identification of seven accessions, G2102, G2105, 03473, 03517, G3818, 08448, 08506, with high levels of resistance to this insect. All seven accessions are small seeded, and three of them have black seed coats. They are now being utilized in a resistance breeding program.
