Abstract:

Compounds derived from cyclopropylmethyl alcohol and cyclopropane carboxylic acid were active against all ages of eggs of the citrus red mite, Panonychus citri (McGregor), in laboratory tests at very low dosages. ZR 856 (hcxadecyl cyclopropanecarboxylate), 918 (1,4-phe- nylenebis (Methylene) bis (cyclopropanecarboxylate) and 1888 (1,1O-hexanediyl bis (cyclopropanecarboxylate), had sterilant activity for 16 h after the females fed and residual activity for 15 days in greenhouse tests. ZR 1888, 1859 (tetradecyl cyclopropane propanoate), 918 and 856 were all significantly better than the untreated when tested in the field on citrus red mites on lemons.
