Traps baited with lures containing equal volumes of phenethyl propionate (PEP), anethole, geraniol, phenethyl butyrate (PEB), and methyl cyclohexanepropionate were mixed with eugenol (30%) and exposed as trinary, quaternary or quinary lures in 2 tests in an area near Wooster, OH, infested with PoPillia japonica Newman. Mixtures containing PEP + eugenol + geraniol and PEP + eugenol + geraniol + PEB captured 50% more beetles than the standard lure. Geraniol alone seemed to enhance attractancy since PEB imparted no increase in attractancy when mixed with PEP and eugenol.
