The ability of Sitotroga cereallela (Olivier) larvae to develop in artificial kernels composed of corn gluten, glycerol, brewers yeast, and cornstarch in gelatin capsules was determined. Moths emerged from capsules containing low and moderate levels of amylose starch, but the failed to do so from capsules containing high-amylose starch. Moisture content of the diets also affected emergence.
