Abstract:Insecticides recommended for control of Oebalus pugnax (F.) (malathion, methyl parathion, and carbaryl) and phosphamidon, an insecticide previously recommended by Louisiana State University, were retested and found to provide satisfactory control. Other materials found to provide satisfactory control of rice stink bug nymphs and adults included monocrotophos, dimethoate, and carbofuran. Naled + phosphamidon mixture, naled, Phosvel® O-(4-bromo-2,5-dichlorophenyl) O-methyl phenylphosphonothioate) , and azinophosmethyl either failed to provide the desired initial kill or residual activity to prevent rapid reinfestation by the rice stink bug.
