Structure Activity Relationships of Methylenedioxynaphthyl Derivatives as Synergists of Carbaryl in House Flies

Abstract:Forty-eight derivatives of methylenedioxynaphthalene were evaluated as synergists for carbaryl (1-naphthyl N-methylcarbamate) against Musca domestica L. Maximum synergistic activity was associated with the unsubstituted naphtho-1,3-dioxoles and naphtho-1,3-oxathioles. Synergists with small nuclear substituents had molar activities equivalent to the parent compound. Incorporation of progressively longer side chains resulted in decreasing synergistic activity.
