Two water- based pressurized formulations of a combination of the synthetic pyrethroids, tetramethrin (Neo-Pynamin®) and NIA-1737(5-benzyl-3-furyl) methyl 2.2-dimethyl- 3 - (2-methylpropellyl) cyclopropanecarboxylate. approximately 30% cis, 70% trans isomers) were compared with an untreatetl check and a formulation of natural pyrethrins containing piperonyl butoxide against Musra domestica L. Four barns were treaded with these formulations on 4 different days. The pretreatment counts of flies were made in each barn, and then counts were made 15 and 30 minutes post treatment. All 3 chemical treatments were equally effective in reducing fly populations in the closed barns. There was a highly significant difference in the fly counts ill the treated barns over those in the check barns, The synthetic pyrethroid formulations were not so irritating to nasal passages as was the natural pyrethrin formulation.
