Abstract:New and standard insecticides were evaluated for con- trol of Hylemya brassicae (Bouche). Insecticides were broadcast as presown soil treatments, placed in the seed furrow at planting, and applied as postemergence drenches. Of new materials tested, carbofuran, Dasanit@ (O,O-diethyl O-[p- (methylsulfinyl) phenyl] phosphorothioate) and Zino- Phos@ (O,O.diethyl 0-2-pyraziny] phosphorothioate) gave more consistent control than diazinon, whieh is recom- mended currently for control of the cabbage maggot. Fur row and drench methods of application were better than broadcast treatment as judged by the levels of control achieved.
