Abstract:

Malathion protected natural raisins from 3 species of stored-product insects, the Indian-meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hübner); the saw-toothed grain beetle, Oryzaephilus surinamensis (L.); and the merchant grain beetle, O. mercator (Fauvel). A 4th species, a dermestid beetle, Trogoderma inclusum Leconte, was not controlled by the malathion deposits on the raisins, except in a high dust treatment with residues above 12 ppm. The protection lasted for 12 months against all the species in adult, larval, and egg stages except against the mature larvae of the Indian-meal moth.
