Milk from 2 dairy cows was analyzed for residues of ronnel or lindane after the cows were treated with a 3% lindane smear, a 2.5% ronnel spray, or a 5% ronnel smear to control Cochliomyia hominivorax (Coquerel). The gaschromatographic method used could detect 0.001 ppm in a 10-ml sample. Lindane appeared in the milk the 1st day posttreatment and was detectable 24 days after a single treatment and 29 days after 2 successive treatments. Residues of ronnel were detected the 1st and 2nd days posttreatment when ronnel was applied either as a spray or as a smear. However, by the 4th day ronnel was detected in only 1 sample, and none was detected in samples collected 8 days posttreatment.
