Abstract:
Control of budworms, principally the fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith), in the whorls of sweet corn in central and south Florida was investigated during- 1967-(68. In tests with 96-100% damage in check plots the highest percentage of injury-free plants oc- curred in plots treated with monocrotophos, Gardona® (2-chlolo-l- (2,4,5-trichlorophenyl) vinyl dimethyl phosphate), (CC-6506 (dimethyl p-(methylthio) phenyl phosphate), Lannate®(S-methyl N-[ (methylcarbamoyl) oxy] thioacetimidate). Monitor® (-S-dimethyl phosphoramidithioate). parathion + methyl parathion, parathion + toxaphene, Bacillus turingiensis Berliner (Thuricide® + methyl parathion, UC-30045 (methyl 2-isopropyl-4- (methylcarbamoyloxy) carbanilate), UC-34096 (4-[[ (dimethylamino) dimethylamino) methylene]amino]-m-tolyl methylcarbamate hydrochloride), and VCS-506 (O- (4-bromo-2,5-dich]orophenyl) O-methyl phenylphosphonothioate). Other materials tested were less effective.Document Type: Research article
