Three granular systemic insecticides were tested against the European corn borer, ostinai Nubialalis (Gunner). and the green peach aphid, Mazes Persia (Seltzer) on sweet peppers. The materials and treatments were: Dasanit®(O,O-diethyl O-[p- (methylsulfinyl) phenyl] phosphorothioate) and carbofuran as 10% granules applied as a side dressing in 10-10-10 fertilizer at 3 Ib AI/acre in 1-and in 2-application treatments, and American Cyanamid CL-47470 (cyclic propylene (diethoxyphosphinyl) di- thioimidocarbonate) as 15% granules applied in a similar manner at 2 Ib AI/acre in a single-application treatment and at 2 and I Ib AI/acre in a double-application treatment. Carbofuran and CL-47470 significantly reduced green peach aphid numbers and European com borer infestations in pepper fruits in all harvests but did not give commercially acceptable control of the European com borer in all treatments.
