A variety of organic compounds, mostly amines, were tested for ovicidal action against Aedes aegypti (L.). Fumigant testing revealed high activity with low molecular weight, water-soluble amino alcohols, and domains. Mixtures of 1% ethanolamine with 0.1% of certain long- chain a polar aliphatic amines or domains in water were effective when sprayed on eggs on a dry surface, The a polar lipophilic amines were ineffective as ovicides when used 111 the absence of these ethanolamine. A characteristic feature of these treatments is collapse and dehydration of the egg, which may involve a hatching stimulation.
