Chlorphenamidine Negatively Correlated with OP Resistance in a Strain of Two-Spotted Spider Mite1

Toxicological tests were undertaken with a normal and an Or-resistant strain (Leverkusen-N and -R) of Tetranychus urticaeKoch using 2 phosphorus esters and a formamidine acaricide. The ratios at LC30-values between N and R were 410 for oxydemetonmethyl, 52.6 for parathion, and 0.0093 for chlorphenamidine (N'- (4-chloro-o-tolyl) - N,N-dimethylforl1lal1lidine). These data strongly indicate a negative correlation of OP resistance with the toxic action of chlorphenal1lidine in the above strains. The applicability of these findings for control of resistant strains in the field is discussed.
