Several densities of newly emerged paired adult Conotrachelus nenuphar (Herbst) were placed on green thinning apples which weighed approximately 12 or 20 g. Eggs laid per female decreased at the highest density, but total oviposition was greater in a given weight of the smaller apples. Also, larval emergence decreased at the highest density, but larval survival was equal for the 2 sizes of apples. Also, more and larger larvae were produced from a given weight of the smaller apples; the possible causes of the differences are discussed and several improvements in the rearing technique are reported.
