The life cycle of Hypera brunneipennis (Boheman) was studied in the laboratory. Regression curves were calculated for the rate of development in relation to temperature for the different stages. The duration of the egg stage varied from 5.8 to 13.0 days, of the larval stage from 12.7 to 31.1 days, and the pupal stage from 4.0 to 14.1 days, at 80° and 59., respectively. The rate of development at constant temperature in the laboratory was similar to that observed by McDuffie under 1940 outdoor insectary conditions. Bathyplectes curculionis (Thompson) developed approximately twice as fast as its host during the egg and larval stage.
