Abstract:
A considerable number of insecticides were evaluated in commercial strawberry plantings in western New York for the control of the strawberry leaf roller, Aneylis complana fragariae (Walsh& Riley). Of the materials applied during the hatching period, TDE, parathion, Guthion® (0,0- dimethyl S-(4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3(4H)-ylmethyl) phosphorodithioate), and diazinon were the most effective. Zectran® (4-dimethylamino-3,5-xylyl methyl carbamate), in a single test, provided the best control. No treatment provided completely satisfactory control when applied near the end of larval development. Of the materials applied against established larvae populations, parathion at 0.5 lb actual per acre provided the highest kill. Very good control was provided also by mevinphos, diazinon, Guthion, and Stauffer N 2404 (O-isopropyl-O(- (2-chloro-4- nitrophenyl) ethyl phosphorothioate).Document Type: Research article
