Abstract:The biological activity of 15 insecticides (not reported previously) against adults of Hippelates collusor (Townsend) was studied in the laboratory. All 15 materials evaluatecl had higher biological activity than malathion. VC-13, OMS-8, dimethoate. OMS-115 and G-30494 were exceptionally effective. The low mammalian toxicities of these compounds have stimulated special interest in their use for eye gnat control.
Other materials which were less effective than those mentioned above but were more effective than malathion were Bayer 25141, G-27365, GC-4072, Bayer 29493, OMS-3 and phosphamidon. DDT and Zectran®showed less activity than malathion.
