Abstract:The contact and systemic insecticidal activities of 10 alkylphosphonate esters containing the 2-(ethylthio)-ethyl group were determined. Some of these compounds were highly toxic by contact and were especially effective systemic insecticides when applied topically or by seed treatment to cotton plants. The relations of structure to activity were in accord with those to be expected from previous work on related series of compounds and as predicted from theoretical grounds.
