Abstract:

This paper examines a number of research papers and other items in the self-efficacy literature to explore the issue of self-efficacy (SE) and jobsearch. From a basic introduction to the concept of SE, the authors explore evidence of the link between performance and SE. they continue through the impact of SE on jobsearch, to investigate programmes for changing SE that affeact jobsearch and ultimately re-employment. They strongly advocate the use of SE in employment programmes and raise the question of whether a SE tool can be developed to ensure that only those who would benefit from these programmes are offered them.
