AbilityMatch Case Study: Identifying Work Solutions to Aid Employment Retention

Abstract:

This article uses the draft guidance and suggested new structure for AbilityMatch case study reports (Birkin et al., 2007), to describe the use of AbilityMatch during an employment intervention with a disabled employee. The rationale for using AbilityMatch (2004) was to assess the interaction between the job and the employee's abilities and health conditions, with the aim of enabling the identification of strategies (work solutions) to help the employee progress in their employment situation. The information obtained through the use of AbilityMatch enabled the Work Psychologist to identify potential work solutions for the employer and employee to consider to enable successful performance of the job.
