Abstract:

In January 2007 a workshop was held with participants representing a range of disability organisations in the UK. The participants were experts in their own field with a particular interest in providing accessible designs for those they represented. The primary aim of this workshop was to generate common design recommendations to be considered and incorporated in a future touch screen kiosk design which could replace the Jobpoints used in Jobcentre Plus offices and other public locations to enable customers to search for jobs. This paper describes the format of the workshop and discusses the outcomes that were specific to kiosk design, but also had generic application for anyone considering accessible design, evaluation or provision.
